HSC workshops invaluable to Macarthur students
EXPERT advice to HSC students Macarthur is only a workshop away.
For the first time in the HSC's Holiday comes from the Macarthur region on September 26-12 students to provide years of valuable tips and resources from senior HSC markers considered experts in their field.
HSC in the holidays working with the University of Western Sydney, Campbelltown, to host educational workshops on topics delivered by 12 experienced teachers who are marking 400 years collective experience.
Workshops will run until September 30 on campus at Campbelltown and will focus on general mathematics, advanced mathematics, standard English, advanced biology, business studies, legal studies, PDHPE, chemistry, physics, modern history and ancient.
Former workshop participant and the University of Technology, Sydney Morrison Tahna students participated in the workshops in 2009 and said without them it would not be where it is today.
"I made them because I needed help," she said. "The way they run is so much more student friendly.They are not a conference where you sit there for two hours is more than the environment in which you are part of a group and everyone participates.
"If you're serious about your HSC, these programs are obvious. I would not have been able to sit at home and study and learn as much as I did without these courses."
Workshop leader and head PDHPE teacher Shane Hardcastle said students could choose a topic for a whole day in a small group with a presenter to go through the course, answer questions and have scored.
