Schools announce closings and delays for Monday
Glenville-Emmons Schools announced it will close today.
Lake Mills Community School and Northwood-Kensett Schools will both close Monday. Blooming Prairie Schools announced it will close its schools. Other schools in northern Iowa and southeastern Minnesota had similar delays and closings.
Southern Minnesota and northern Iowa are in a winter weather advisory through today. Overnight snow on Sunday was expected to amount to 1 to 3 inches, and winds are expected to increase to 15 to 18 mph with gusts as high as 26 mph.
The National Weather Service predicted there will be blowing snow through noon today, and an accumulation of less than an inch is possible. Winds will be high with gusts as high as 32 mph.

An overflow of approximately 100 gallons of heating oil at the Northwood School in Rochester, New Hampshire, forced school officials to cancel classes for the remainder of Tuesday, January 24, 2012, reports Fosters.com.
The leak was discovered by an ambulance crew returning to the fire station earlier that morning.
The leak is suggested to be caused by one of the return lines that is plugged into the heating system. The line would bring oil to the heating tank. The pipe, however, was unplugged for unknown reasons.
Local fire department officials were forced to immediately jump into action because the oil seeped into the school and onto roadways.
