Iris Pride

Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow is not a damsel in distress, but not stop the Portland contingent of Dykes on Bikes to ride in Lincoln City to show support for the super hero theme of the annual Pride Festival Fourth Iris.

Rumours that the coastal city could be cooling on the City Pride weekend sponsored circulated, but remain unsubstantiated. However, organizers figure, it can not hurt to go big and remind the city that the Pride festival is going nowhere.

"This year, everyone wants to do a huge splash to show the mayor there is a strong alliance gay in Lincoln City to funding and opportunity are not removed," said Gabriela Kandziora, co-coordinator of dams on tribal Portland Bikes.

Funding for events like Pride Iris was a hot topic at a meeting July 25 City Council. According to the New Guard, concerns have been raised about whether the city has enough of a return on marketing events it sponsors.

Mayor Dick Anderson did not respond to multiple requests for comment, but Maggie Conrad, special events coordinator for the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau, says there is no reason to worry about the future the festival.

"I did not hear any comments about this festival, especially the mayor. Their main concern is that we have a good return on investment for our community with all our celebrations, "says Conrad. "Lincoln City spends a lot of dollars on tourism and the planning of our events.Because it's his first year as mayor, his only concern is that dollars are well spent. Whether or not the festival is on the block to anyone, the residents agreed that the event could benefit from an extra breath support.

Part of what makes the pleasure of fire IMPS is the frozen image of the model, rhythm, and syncope lyricality giving them a musical feeling ... combined into groups, they look like a musical score as much as a group of dancers.
