New York, N.Y., September 8, 2011 - Lovable funny man Zach Galifianakis, Texas Rockers ZZ Top, President Lincoln, Pittsburgh Steeler lineman Brett Keisel, Russian politico Grigori Rasputin and the sometimes bearded/sometimes surreal actor Joaquin Phoenix are the first notables to be inducted by popular vote into the IFC Whisker Wars Hall of Fame, an online institution to honor the greatest names bearing beards and/or moustaches.

In honor of the debut of its critically-acclaimed new reality series about the world of competitive beard growing, Whisker Wars, the IFC network executed an online poll answered by 10,000 Americans who cast votes for their favorite bearded notables, for the chance for these stars and historical luminaries to be enshrined in the IFC Whisker Wars Hall of Fame. The respondents also voiced their attitudes and opinions about this fashion trend, which is again bursting to the foreground in popularity.

Following is the tally for the Hall of Fame vote....

Is Jim Carrey's Bizarre Video to Emma Stone Sincere or a Prank?

Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman: Actor Returns to Explain Last Year's ...

Joaquin also explained that his movie project was inspired by reality TV. "I'd started watching a lot of reality shows," he said, "and, um, I was amazed that people believed them -- that they called them, like, 'reality.' I thought the only reason why is because it's billed as being 'real,' and the people use their real names. ... I thought I could handle that. ... You just use your name, and people think that it's real." Renee Banks

I honestly think he was cracked out that entire time and they're just using this "hoax" mumbo-jumbo as an excuse. It wouldn't be so far fetched that he was completely high off his ass that entire time and is finally clean and sober. That's just ridiculous. To carry a joke for that long doesn't make it funny. To spend thousands of dollars on a waste-of-film is not funny. Maybe I don't have a sense of humor, but I assure you, I'm not laughing with them. I'm just laughing at them.
